On my website, while discussing exploring Camp Wellfleet, I have referenced items I have taken from this area of Cape Cod National Seashore, a unit of the National Park Service. I would now like to advise all who have read these reports that I have learned it is not only inappropriate, but illegal to do this. Removing, damaging, possessing or disturbing natural, cultural and archeological resources from any national park service area is not permitted. Additionally, possessing or using a metal detector or any equipment used to locate these protected resources is also prohibited. I have learned that these regulations are in place to prevent the taking of valuable resources located with the national park service areas and to protect these resources so that they may be enjoyed by all who visit these sites. As a result of learning about these regulations, I have returned the items I removed from Cape Cod National Seashore, wanting them to be preserved and protected, so that the depiction of the story and history they represent, will remain intact and retain their integrity for those who study them.
